I don’t think this is contradictory, because the content design is largely independent of the content systems used, or should be (but I could be wrong :). Thanks for the thoughts!

Things such as storage (outside of the devise), small screen size, and text vs. audio-visual is already having an impact on the web. I think this is one reason why twitter suddenly took off (even though it had been around for a while).
