Deeply grateful for the wonderful recap and extension of our conversation(s) last week. Want to give full credit to R. David Lankes (http://quartz.syr.edu/blog/?page_id=27), his “Atlas of New Librarianship” (http://quartz.syr.edu/blog/?page_id=6352) and the accompanying MOOC (https://buildingcreativebridges.wordpress.com/category/new-librarianship-mooc/), and his blog (http://quartz.syr.edu/blog/?page_id=6070) for helping shape so much of my own thinking about possible futures for libraries/library staff members as partners within the communities they serve; community members as parts of library collections; and libraries as learning centers supported by library staff as trainer-teacher-learners. Thanks to the thoughts and actions of many colleagues in the American Library Association and other professional groups, we’re seeing greater recognition of the important roles library staff and libraries themselves play in supporting lifelong learning.
