Thanks, Helen. I do agree that the preparation with references is valuable. I’m less organized than you, clearly, but I love the looking things up when it’s time (off he goes, down the rabbit hole!). That said, I do look to create a flow first, before digging in. Appreciate you sharing!

Yes, I have a couple of your books on my shelf here and have referred to them often through the years. Writing a book certainly does require planning and cutting it down to manageable chapters/tasks as you mentioned. I wrote a couple of them over the last few years and thoroughly enjoyed the process. What I loved was the ‘thinking’ bit first. That is, I made sure that I had captured all my references first with my own notes as to why these references resonated (themes; links; insights) and then when it came time to putting the skeleton of the outline of the book chapters I was going to write, the writing came easily because the research had been done. I didn’t need to stop the flow of writing to go look something up. I would say there are benefits to creating a physical book from your experiences and knowledge. Your thoughts on your experience matter and I’m sure will help others to share their story and expertise too.
